Fresh developments and new jobs at Harrogate spa and hotel with £15m refurbishment

The opening of a Harrogate hotel’s new multi-million-pound spa this November is set to create 20 jobs.

The Cairn Group, owner of the Majestic Hotel’s £15m refurbishment, is redeveloping its former leisure club into The Harrogate Spa.

Once complete, this facility will have a 12.5m indoor pool and six treatment rooms. It is also set to offer thermal treatments which includes a spa pool, salt sauna, steam room and ice fountain.

Furthermore, there will be a spa garden on offer, as well as a terraced cafe and gym.

Harrogate Spa’s director, Lynn Roach, said: “We are delighted with progress of the Harrogate Spa, and the completion of the treatment rooms, gym and studio means we are on target to open on November 1.

“What we are not doing is simply refurbishing the former Majestic Leisure Club. This is a total rebuild and transformation will be incredible. It will be unrecognisable from the previous incantation.

“Twenty full and part-time jobs will be created as a result of the opening of the spa, and we are currently advertising for therapists to work in this brand new, state-of-the-art facility.”

While the £15m project is underway and drawing to a close, the Majestic Hotel will become a DoubleTree by Hilton this autumn. Spaces will include a reception area, event and function suites as well as 184 guest bedrooms.
