63-home Leeds care development gets green light

Plans to create 63 new homes with care services in Leeds have been given the go-ahead.

Morgan Ashley Care Developments LLP has announced that planning permission has been granted for the proposed Westerton Walk care facility in West Ardsley.

The project, which will see the developer partner with Home Group, will deliver residential accommodation with care services as well as shared lounges and dining facilities.

Laurence Basturkmen, managing director at Morgan Ashley Care Developments, commented: “Morgan Ashley is delighted that planning permission has been granted for the first of four exciting extra care projects we are delivering in partnership with Leeds City Council and specialist registered provider Home Group.

“These schemes will provide high quality, affordable, community focused accommodation that promotes independent living for older people.”

Planning consultancy Barton Willmore worked with Morgan Ashley to secure permission for the development.

Claire Kent, director at Barton Willmore, added: “This development will provide vital accommodation for elderly people in Leeds and help to meet Leeds City Council’s ambition to provide up to 1,000 new extra care housing units by 2028.”
