Contractor named for £17m West Yorkshire leisure and wellbeing hub

National contractor Willmott Dixon has been appointed to construct a £17m leisure and wellbeing hub in West Yorkshire.

Following the firm’s completion of Minsthorpe Leisure Centre for Wakefield Council, the company has also been successfully appointed by the council to build Five Towns Leisure and Wellbeing Hub in Pontefract.

The hub will comprise facilities such as a 10-lane swimming pool, studio pool with moveable floor and a splash pad water confidence area, as well as a gym, exercise studios, spin studio, climbing activity, café, meeting and referral rooms for community use.

In addition, the external area will feature tennis courts, a wellbeing garden and interactive play area, a full size 3G artificial grass pitch and car parking.

Willmott Dixon is working with GT+3 Architect, ARCADIS Design & Consultancy and Waterman Group on the project, which is expected to be completed in autumn 2020.
