Audiologists' holds fundraiser for Hearing Dogs charity
A LOCAL audiologists’ in Manchester Fort Shopping Park recently held a family fun day to raise funds for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf at an in-store family fun day on 17 August.
Hearing Dogs for the Deaf is a national charity which pairs deaf people with dogs. The dogs alert deaf people to life saving sounds, such as fire alarms, while helping them to regain their confidence.
Handlers and hounds from the Hearing Dogs charity visited the Specsavers store in Manchester Fort to meet and greet the community, while raising awareness of the cause.
At the event, team members from Specsavers treated the local community to a bake sale, with all proceeds being donated to the charity. The audiology team were also on hand to offer advice and free hearing examinations.
Anum Saleemi, audiology director at Specsavers Manchester Fort, says: ‘Our fun day was a huge success and we’re so pleased to have raised money to benefit the life of someone dealing with hearing loss.
‘The charity’s visit to the store was a fantastic opportunity for the public to see these amazing dogs in action and appreciate the huge difference they make to the lives of the deaf and those with impaired hearing.’
Another family fun day will also be held at the Manchester Arndale store on Saturday 24 August.
