Job vacancies drop in the East Midlands in the run up to Brexit

Professional vacancies have decreased 4% since this time last year across the East Midlands. That is according to new research from the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), the leading trade body representing the recruitment sector.

The data, provided by leading recruitment software company, Innovantage, which analyses monthly hiring trends in the UK, also reveals that despite the dip in job openings, the region is still performing better than many areas, such as the West Midlands and the North East.

Commenting on the data, Julie Selby, Regional Account Manager at APSCo said:

“The East Midlands region has always been a fantastic area for job opportunities, however, with Brexit around the corner, it’s no surprise that vacancy growth has stalled. Despite the overall dip, however, there are many pockets of positivity. The accounting and finance sector is booming, with job openings up by 31% and the legal sector too, with vacancies up by 22%.”
