Productivity Increases 50% at Chiorino Following Phased Relocation
Chiorino has announced its phased relocation to new premises in Glasshoughton is now complete following a £300,000 investment to optimise its factory layout and offices.
Productivity has increased 50% for the conveyor belt manufacturer since moving in to the 37,000 square foot Unit F2, Whistler Drive at Glasshoughton.
A long lease agreement announced in April saw the company begin a phased move from its former premises at Phoenix Avenue in Normanton. Investment in the business has enabled it to realise improvements to the production flow, increase capacity and scale up for growth.
Leading Yorkshire law firm, Shulmans LLP, was appointed by Chiorino to handle legal proceedings associated with the lease including complex negotiations regarding a change in planning permission. Its construction team has also successfully concluded eight years of litigation proceedings associated with the former premises, resulting in reaching a multi-million-pound settlement.
Carl Johnson, Managing Director at Chiorino UK Ltd said: “We have been advised by Shulmans for many years and they have helped us enormously in respect of our recent move. We are delighted to have completed the phased transition of all manufacturing to our state-of-the-art new premises in Glasshoughton. The expertise provided by Shulmans, and in particular Simon Jackson, has been invaluable to us through this process, combining a deep understanding of the industrial property sector with legal technicalities and our needs as a business.
“We can now look to the future with great optimism. The new premises have enabled us to introduce more efficient ways of working to provide an even better service to our customers. As a result, we are already seeing great improvements to our productivity, with potential to scale up operations and grow the team.”
Simon Jackson, Partner and Head of Commercial Property at Shulmans LLP said: “The move to new facilities in Glasshoughton has provided the opportunity for Chiorino to invest in its business and it is fantastic to see the company making great strides forward as a result. We are delighted to have been of service in support of this latest transaction and are thrilled to continue our long association with Carl and Chiorino.”
