Building futures together! Housebuilder celebrates the success of its apprentices

Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, is celebrating the success of three of its apprentices who have excelled on the housebuilder’s apprenticeship programme, with one even being nominated for the housebuilders prestigious Apprentice of the Year award.

Joe Rothwell, 19 and Lewis Bottomley, 21 were based at the housebuilders Emmets Reach development in Birkenshaw developed their skills on-site whilst undertaking their programme of study at Leeds College of Building. Having completed the three year NVQ Level 3 Joinery and Carpentry course, Joe and Lewis have both been offered sub-contractor positions with the housebuilder.

Also on the track to success is Wesley Betts, 26 who was based at Templars Chase in Wetherby, is progressing to complete his Level 3 course and has been nominated to represent the Northern Region at this year’s Apprentice of the Year awards.

The five star housebuilder’s apprenticeship scheme is a mixture of on-site work experience with Barratt as well as block weeks at college, where apprentices move for a week of study.

Darren Johnson, Construction Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West commented: “The construction industry is growing rapidly and it’s a really exciting time for anyone with an interest in housebuilding to come on board with Barratt. As one of the country’s top housebuilders, we are always committed to developing raw talent and we are incredibly proud of the opportunities that we are able to provide.”

Darren continued: “We are really impressed with the hard work and dedication that Joe and Lewis have shown throughout their courses, and we are thrilled that they will be continuing to progress their careers with us. We are also incredibly proud of Wesley and the determination and motivation that he has shown. We are really excited to see what happens at the Apprentice of the Year awards next month, the whole team are behind him!”
