Global coffee chain creates 20 new jobs in Leeds retail complex
An international coffee chain has become the latest brand to join a central Leeds shopping centre.
American coffee giant Starbucks has officially opened its doors at The Merrion Centre in Leeds Arena Quarter.
The new coffee house has space for approximately 125 customers and will create around 20 new barista jobs.
Magda Kubiak, store manager at Starbucks Merrion Centre, commented: ’We are really excited to open our first store at The Merrion Centre in Leeds.
“We look forward to welcoming in local residents and shoppers to sample our delicious food and drink menu including our 99 per cent ethically sourced coffee.”
Helen Green, director at Town Centre Securities (owners of the Merrion Centre), added: “We are thrilled to officially welcome Starbucks to the Merrion Centre who join our growing number of eateries and casual dining spots developing the Arena Quarter as both a key retail and leisure destination in the heart of Leeds.
“Starbucks is a brand which has a strong presence across the globe. It is now open on Merrion Way, near the First Direct Arena, where there are thousands of new residential units under construction.
“Starbucks will be perfectly positioned to give concert goers, shoppers, residents, local workers and students their daily caffeine fix!”
