Investment bank leaves London Stock Exchange building for new 'greener' St Paul's site
Investment bank Numis is moving to Gresham St Paul’s on Gresham Street in East London.
It was revealed today (August 30) by Stanhope and the Swiss Investment Foundation AFIAA that the bank will take over a new office in the ‘green’ building with views of St Paul’s Cathedral.
Relocating from its London Stock Exchange building offices in Paternoster Square, the move will see Numis expand its office space to 50,000 sq ft, taking the top three floors of the new space.
Bardo Magel, AFIAA’s head of asset management international, said; “We are looking forward to welcoming Numis to Gresham St Pauls.
“With Smith and Williamson having already agreed to move their HQ to the site, this latest transaction further signifies the strength of the London real estate and leasing market as well as London’s position as a leading financial centre in Europe.
“By redeveloping Gresham St Pauls, AFIAA is offering top premises to top corporate tenants and providing outstanding long term added value to its investors.”
Gresham St Paul’s, at 31 - 45 Gresham Street, includes around 170,000 sq ft of prime office space over nine floors, with terraces on the top three floors.
Kevin Darvishi, leasing director at Stanhope, added: “We are delighted that Numis have chosen Gresham St Paul’s as their new home, a sustainable development which will provide a light and air-filled working environment.
“The agreement means that Gresham St Pauls is now almost fully let, with only the sixth floor of the building now available to let and we are very happy that we are beginning to see our vision for the development coming to fruition.”
The ground floor has been designed to provide occupiers with amenities including a café and business lounge.
London remains a major banking and finance hub, however is now also home to one-in-12 tech, media and telecoms businesses, as well as a young workforce with 61 per cent aged 22 to 39.
Gresham St Paul’s is the first development project AFIAA has partnered with Stanhope for, with construction having commenced in March 2019 at the former headquarters of Schroders to modernise and upgrade the building for occupancy by autumn 2020.
