Gymophobics Southport celebrates relaunch with help of Dr David Unwin and founder Donna Hubbard
Gymophobics Southport celebrated its official relaunch on Saturday (30 August), with the help of Dr David Unwin and Gymophobics founder Donna Hubbard.
The centre re-opened its doors after it underwent a major renovation overseen by new owners Anne Molyneux and Helena Knapton.
The facility is part of the largest ladies-only gym group in the UK which has now helped over 250,000 women turn their lives around.
Anne Molyneux, who was originally a member of the gym before taking it over, said: “We were really pleased with the launch on Saturday, and it was nice seeing some new faces and giving the members something to get excited about.
“Dr Unwin’s talk was very informative and it was a real pleasure to be able to welcome him on the day, his views on low-carb diets echo what we encourage here.
“Being able to offer the local ladies this sort of service is a fantastic feeling, and we’d like to thank the members who have been with Gymophobics for so long, some for 11 years.
“The centre has been completely transformed after its renovation and we’re delighted with the way that it has all come together.”
The gym, based on Bispham Road, Southport, originally opened its doors in 2007 and since then has worked with ladies of ages ranging from teens to eighty plus.
Gymophobics founder Donna Hubbard, who was on hand to cut the ribbon, said: “The new Southport owners have worked tirelessly to revamp this centre. They’ve completely renovated the interior and have breathed new life into the facility.
“We’re passionate about encouraging our ladies to feel comfortable while they’re working out, and our centres have no heart-stopping treadmills or clanking weights to put our members at ease.
