South Yorkshire edtech startups set for boost with launch of new accelerator
A new business accelerator aimed at supporting education technology startups is set to launch in Sheffield next month.
Twinkl Educational Publishing is set to open TwinklHive, situated in its office at Hallamshire Business Park on Napier Street, to support emerging edtech companies in the city.
The space, which can accommodate up to 80 workers, will provide access to customisable investment, residency and mentorship opportunities.
In addition, the accelerator will offer support with areas such as resource production, marketing, application development and partnership consultancy.
Founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Jonathan and Susie Seaton, Twinkl Educational Publishing specialises in the production of online teaching and educational materials.
Jonathan Seaton, co-founder and CEO of Twinkl, commented: “Sheffield is really making waves to become the EdTech centre of the UK. We count ourselves lucky to be based in the city and we are proud to be part of this movement.
“Entrepreneurs everywhere are having innovative technological ideas that could help millions of teachers. Through TwinklHive we want to support and nurture them and make sure that we are getting the right technology into classrooms so that we can empower educators and expand their teaching capabilities.
“Our team has specialised knowledge in augmented reality, international expansion, partnerships and a whole host of other areas, which we are eager to share with local startups.”
