Housebuilder donates £1,000 to community volunteering charity
Five-star housebuilder, Barratt Homes Yorkshire West, has continued to support the local communities in which it builds, by donating £1,000 to Hollybush Conservation Centre in Leeds, as part of its Community Fund initiative.
Finance Director, Andy Donoghue and members of his team donated a day of their time to help the staff at the Conservation Centre. The team accompanied staff from the centre to Valley View Primary School where they began working on a nature area. The team helped to secure a pond area with perimeter fencing, revamped overgrown grass areas and started to build a nature viewing hut to enable pupils to get closer to the local wildlife.
Andy Donoghue, Finance Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: “We are so happy that we were able to support Hollybush Conservation Centre with our Community Fund donation! It was great for the team from Barratt to get green-fingered with the volunteers and help them as they begin to create a thriving nature space for the pupils from Valley View Primary School. The centre does so much to support local areas, so we’re looking forward to seeing how the £1,000 can further help improvements!”
So far this year, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West has supported seven charities thanks to its Community Fund; a scheme that sees a different charity or organisation receives up to £1,000 from the housebuilder every month. The causes that have been supported so far include the West Riding Kidney Association, St Francis Catholic School, the Independent Domestic Abuse Charity, The Donkey Sanctuary, Hedgehog Emergency Rescue and Middleton Park Equestrian Centre.
Ian Dowson, Practical Team Project Officer at Hollybush Conservation Centre, commented: “We felt really honoured to receive £1,000 from Barratt Developments as part of their Community Fund and were so pleased to hear that the team wanted to come and lend a hand as we started our works at Valley View Primary School. We’re really grateful to the team for helping out and hope to welcome them back in the future!”
Hollybush Conservation Centre is an environmental volunteering centre that manages threatened green spaces across Leeds and beyond to benefit the emotional, physical and social wellbeing of local residents.
