Merseyrail named greatest place to work at National Rail Awards
Merseyrail has been named the greatest place to work at last night’s (19 September) National Rail Awards in a successful evening for the company.
The rail organisation, which was named the most punctual operator in the UK for 2018-19, won the Great Place to Work award at the ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
There was further success on the night as Merseyrail were highly commended in the Passenger Operator of the Year category – retaining recognition for their hard work after winning the award in 2018.
Merseyrail employs approximately 1,200 people in the Liverpool City Region, making it one of the largest employers in the area.
These achievements come after Merseyrail swept the board at the 2018 National Rail Awards, becoming the first single operator to win three awards – Passenger Operator of the Year, Customer Service Excellence Award and the Sustainable Development Award.
Andy Heath, Managing Director at Merseyrail, said: “Our staff are an integral part of our business and it is a privilege to be recognised as a great place to work within the rail industry.
“We have faced a number of challenges over the last year and Merseyrail’s employees have been incredibly professional and passenger-focused both on the front line and behind the scenes.
“We are committed to providing the best possible service to our passengers in the Liverpool City Region, so to be highly commended in the Passenger Operator of the Year category at such a prestigious awards ceremony is a real testament to the work carried out by our staff and partners.”
