Family-run cleaning appliances provider in Sheffield completes six-figure acquisition of new HQ
A Sheffield cleaning equipment supplier has completed the land purchase for its new 37,000 sq ft headquarters with the help of Wake Smith Solicitors.
Family-run business TL Killis and Sons Ltd, which is currently based on the Dorehouse Industrial Estate in Handsworth, Sheffield, has bought a local vacant site nearby for a six-figure sum.
Plans for the development of the area - previously occupied by an Asda building which was demolished in the early part of the 2000s - were submitted in late 2018 and approved by Sheffield-based planners.
Wake Smith completed the purchase of the land between Orgreave Place and Rotherham Road in Handsworth for Tibor Killi Jnr, allowing expansion and the creation of over 40 jobs.
TL Killis and Sons’ owner, Tibor Kill Jnr, said: “We currently operate existing premises in close proximity to the site purchased for storing and distributing domestic, commercial and industrial cleaning products and equipment.”

He added: “However, we are looking to expand our operations due to increased demand and now require larger warehouse and office facilities, which will also mean potential for more employment in the area as a result.
“This disused plot of land will be regenerated with the development retaining a significant amount of the existing woodland plus additional planting of trees and shrubs to help screen the new service yard and retain as much of the existing ecology of the site as possible.”
The site will include warehouse storage, a workshop, training centre, offices, a showroom and a trade counter on the plot of land that has remained underused for around two decades.
Killis have built its workforce to around 50 staff at present and, with current expansion plans, this figure aims to rise to over 100 within the next two years.
TL Killis has over 50 years of experience in supplying cleaning machinery to the industry from domestic vacuum cleaners to industrial ride-on sweepers.
The business also supplies hotels, schools, facilities management companies, hospitals and restaurants with cleaning products such as chemicals and paper disposables.
Laura Sanderson, solicitor in Wake Smith’s commercial property division, concluded: “We were really pleased to be able to advise Tibor on the land purchase requirements.
“This is a long established Sheffield name and a real success story of an independent business expanding in the region and we wish them the best of luck for the future.”
