Northumberland planning consultancy expands with acquisition of rival firm
A Northumberland property planning services consultancy has acquired a rival firm as part of its ongoing expansion.
JT Planning, based in the coastal town of Amble, has acquired Big Tree Planning for an undisclosed sum.
Established in 2005, JT Planning specialises in residential, leisure and commercial planning, with its client base mainly in Northumberland and parts of the North East.
Big Tree Planning, which has offices in Newcastle and Leicester, was founded in 2008 and works with commercial clients across the country.
The acquisition will enable the firm to bolster its existing proposition as well as expand its geographic reach across the region and further afield.
Jon Tweddell, director of JT Planning, added: “I am always looking for ways to grow the business but this particular acquisition was more opportunistic.
“Sam Grant [Big Tree Planning MD] approached me because he wanted to leave the sector and ensure continuity of service for his client base.
“While Big Tree is smaller, the work is similar and in different areas of the country. We can now strengthen our presence in Durham and Teesside, along with the south.”
