Housebuilder supports the local community group with funding initiative
Local five star housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has launched a new initiative designed to support charities and organisations in the areas in which it builds. The Community Fund sees the housebuilder donate £1,000 each month to a community group or charity across the North East region. As part of the new scheme, Barratt Developments is supporting The Torch Centre, a community centre which caters for disabled groups, near to the David Wilson Homes’ Woodland Rise development.
The £1,000 donation will contribute towards the substantial works of essential repair and modernisation that the building is currently undergoing, including repairing the roof, upgrading it’s windows and internal doors, as well as replacing it’s out-dated technology. The donation aims to build and strengthen the community club, which is open to all residents of Hexham and the surrounding area, including their regular disabled user groups, such as Chrysalis and the Spinal Unit Sports Club.
Ashlea Wright, Sales Manager at David Wilson Homes’ Woodland Rise development, commented: “The Community Fund initiative allows us to support local community groups and charities around our developments, and so we were delighted to donate this month’s fund to support the fantastic work that The Torch Centre does for the locals in and around Hexham.
Brian Massey, Trustee and Management Committee Chair at The Torch Centre, commented: “I would like to extend my thanks to David Wilson Homes for its generous donation. This will enable us to progress the extensive renovation works that so desperately need doing, so that we can continue to provide our facilities for our regular groups who make use of The Torch Centre.”
