Property awards success for Pegasus Group

Leading consultants Pegasus Group enjoyed success at a prestigious awards ceremony recently when St Modwen Park, Doncaster was named Commercial Development of the Year.

A 27-acre former nylon factory on the edge of Doncaster town centre, it was described as a gamechanger for the South Yorkshire market. Pegasus Group Senior Director Nigel Cussen was a planning consultant on the scheme.

Insider’s annual Yorkshire Property Industry Awards, a black-tie showcase of the very best that the Yorkshire property industry has to offer, was held at Leeds’ Royal Armouries Museum and a total of 14 awards were handed out. Pegasus Group’s scheme, Create Yorkshire, was runner-up in the Public-Private Collaboration of the Year category.

St. Modwen Park, Doncaster is an established business location off Wheatley Hall Road, one of the main arterial routes into Doncaster. Its first phase of the site was completed in 2016, with around 78,000 sq ft let to leading German businesses Bosche Automotive and DB Schenker. A further 119,910 sq ft of space to the West of the site became available this year.

Pegasus Group Planning Director Chris Calvert said: “We were disappointed not to win with Create Yorkshire but delighted that our planning expertise was recognised through Nigel’s work on St Modwen Park.

“The scheme beat off stiff competition in the category from four other finalists, and it is testament to St Modwen’s robust business plan that they continue to scoop awards for their commercial development activity.”

Nigel Cussen joined Pegasus Group in 2012, bringing experience of working within planning consultancy since 1999. Prior to this he was a planning policy officer in local government, at York City Council and Preston Borough Council. He has significant experience of promoting developments through development plan representations, planning applications and planning appeals and has also successfully gained planning permission for projects affecting listed buildings, conservation areas and within green belt locations.

Create Yorkshire will bring about an exciting hi-tech, television, film and creative industries campus and beat off two other collaborations at last night’s ceremony. It builds on the success of Church Fenton Studios and the content of the council’s Economic Development Framework and is set to deliver economic diversity and hundreds of new high-quality jobs.
