Taylor&Emmet recognises young business talent

Taylor&Emmet LLP is investing in the future success of Sheffield’s business community, by backing to two initiatives encouraging youth enterprise.

The firm sponsored a key award at Sheffield Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Dinner and is supporting its trainee solicitors’ efforts to build a local networking group for young people.

Rob Moore, head of Taylor&Emmet’s business legal services, joined Chamber president, Steve Manley, to present Tom Benford of Plastic Phobia with The President’s Young Entrepreneur 2019 award, in front of more than 300 guests at the Cutlers Hall.

Tom set up his business supplying green alternatives to plastic products, whilst studying economics at the University of Sheffield and subsequently left his course to run the firm fulltime. He was honoured by the Chamber for his outstanding contribution to the business community and his success so far.

Taylor&Emmet is also one of the founders of Sheffield Future Business Leaders, a young professionals’ networking group. It is run by trainees from the firm and BHP accountants and has already attracted more than 160 members from across the city. Its next free breakfast seminar will be held on October 24 at Kommune in the city centre and will feature a guest speaker from Paper Studios, who will be discussing the challenges faced by technology business start-ups.

Rob Moore said: “We have a long and proud tradition of helping young people develop their skills and a number of our past trainees are now Taylor&Emmet partners. There are great things happening across Sheffield, driven by the next generation of entrepreneurs and we believe it is the responsibility of established firms to encourage and acknowledge their achievements.”
