Barratt Developments Yorkshire East shortlisted for trio of timber awards

Five-star housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has been shortlisted for three awards at this year’s Structural Timber Awards. The prestigious event showcases and honours construction achievements and timber innovations. Cherry Tree Court, a Barratt Homes timber frame built development in Woodmansey near Beverley, has been shortlisted for Private Housing Project of the year and Barratt Developments Yorkshire East shortlisted for Pioneer Of The Year in relation to the site. Senior Site Manager of the development Andy Bentley has also been shortlisted for Project or Construction Manager of the Year for his work on this innovative project.

The Structural Timber Awards is a celebration of innovation and excellence in the use of timber technologies, from recognising best practice in timber architecture for both sites and site managers, to honouring the accomplishments of ground-breaking building projects. The official awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 9th October at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.

Situated just outside Beverley, in the quaint village of Woodmansey, Cherry Tree Court is a beautiful development comprising a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes in both detached and semi-detached designs. The five-star housebuilder completed the site between March and June 2018, using state of the art timber technologies.

Senior Site Manager, Andy Bentley, commented: “From the outset of the project at Cherry Tree Court, we were faced with challenges, from restricted access and minimal onsite storage, to having to combine timber frames with precast insulated floor slabs which was a completely new method for both myself and the division as a whole. I enjoyed every minute of the challenge and I’m delighted that we were able to deliver all 44 units fully completed within 28 weeks from the very first timber frame kit arriving on site!”

Paul Wharam, Technical Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East commented: “It is an absolute pleasure to have been shortlisted for three categories at the Structural Timber Awards. Cherry Tree Court provided a fantastic opportunity to continue the success of Timber Frame construction within the Yorkshire East Division, and with Andy Bentley acting as a key driving force behind the project, our expectations have been fulfilled above and beyond, we are very proud of the completed site. We’re very grateful to the Structural Timber Awards for recognising our success, and we’d like to wish all of the other nominees the best of luck on the night!”
