Memory of historic theatre revived with opening of new central London bar

A new bar paying homage to a local historic theatre and music hall has opened its doors in central London.

The Lost Alhambra has launched at 28a Leicester Square, inspired by The Alhambra Theatre of Variety, a music hall open from 1854 to 1936 at the site of the current Leicester Square Odeon.

Secured by specialist leisure property agency Shelley Sandzer, the site is the latest project of hospitality firm Adventure Bar Group, which specialises in concept bars across the city including The Escapologist, Tonight Josephine, and Bar Elba.

The new bar aims to honour the former venue with theatrically-inspired decor, offering a range of cocktails and other beverages.

Tom Kidd, co-founder of Adventure Bar Group, commented: “Each of our bars is different – we work hard to ensure that wherever possible we build a concept based on local history, and the site at Leicester Square is a great example of where we have been able to do this.

“Shelley Sandzer secured a site that works perfectly for our brand, and we look forward to The Lost Alhambra bringing debaucherous times back to this prime central London location!”
