Training specialist offers Dream Placements
A Cumbrian training provider has committed to promoting the county’s young leaders by joining a new work placement scheme.
PHX Training, which has offices in Barrow, Carlisle and Workington, has signed up to help deliver the Dream Placement 2020 programme, aimed at giving local 16-18-year olds the chance to experience the world of work at boardroom level.
Dream Placement, which is managed by Cumbrian not-for-profit organisation Centre for Leadership Performance, provides young people with the opportunity to undergo work placements with senior executives of local companies, giving them a taste of the leadership opportunities available to them in the future, including interviewing for a position with the company, through to goal setting and the placement week.
Lindsay Thornton, Apprenticeships Manager at PHX Training, said: “As a people focused organisation, we believe that ambition starts at a young age and by showing young people the opportunities available to them we can play a part in inspiring Cumbria’s next generation of leaders.”
Almost 200 students are expected to apply, with PHX Training one of up to 30 companies set to offer Dream Placements. Hosts range from major players in Cumbria’s nuclear sector to small and medium-size specialist companies, local authorities, and health trusts, with young people having until October 28 to apply to be part of the scheme.
PHX Training delivers apprenticeship qualifications in business administration skills, offering learners skills for roles such as office executive, office supervisor, membership administrator and personal administrator. Apprenticeships delivered by PHX also include team leading, customer service, hospitality, management and warehousing across the North West.
As well as apprenticeship training, PHX Training delivers government-backed initiatives, adult skills, NEET (not in education, employment or training), employability contracts and work-based learning programmes.
The PHX team of qualified trainers also deliver a diverse range of resources including offline, online and face-to-face services at six training centres in Barrow, Carlisle, Workington, Morecambe, Preston and Blackpool.
