Accountant David completes the numbers

The numbers stack up for the management team of a Bristol based house builder, with the return of a former Finance Director to the role.

David Sheard left Wainhomes 19 years ago after helping to establish the business in the South West and now he is back, completing the seven strong management team of the company’s recently established Severn Valley Division.

David, from Devizes, has held Finance Director roles with four other major house builders, as well as having experience in the building supplies and motor sectors. He said: “I am delighted to be back. I have always regretted leaving in the first place so to get a chance to return and help the division become established as a major developer in the area is fantastic.”

He joins a team comprising Managing Director, Carl Haley; Head of Construction, Chris Preston; Head of Commercial, Nick Carey; Head of Land, Luke Waldron; Head of Technical, Jeremy Johnson and Regional Head of Sales, Emma Butcher - another returner to the fold, having worked for Wainhomes, in York, until around the turn of the century – as the business moves into new 3,800 sq. ft. offices on Almondsbury Business Park, Bristol.

Wainhomes Severn Valley has committed to invest over £50 million to build up to 500 properties a year in the area, supporting more than 600 jobs and delivering much needed homes. Around 70 percent of them will be for private sale and the remainder will be built for registered housing providers, for affordable social rent and shared ownership. To date, seven sites have been acquired and four more are being pursued across Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Developments with planning permission in place include The Lilies at Tadpole Garden Village, near Swindon, delivering 146 homes; Blenheim Heights at Charlton Hayes, north Bristol, providing 98 homes; Saxon Meadows at South Cerney, in the Cotswolds, comprising 92 homes; Woodshaw Gardens in Royal Wootton Bassett, with 46 homes and in Patterdown, Chippenham, 72 homes. Awaiting detailed planning approval are developments at Cam and Twigworth, which would deliver a further 164 properties.

Wainhomes already has well established regional operations in the North West and South West of England. In addition, a specialist division – HIMOR – focuses on complicated brown field sites and property investments that have long term redevelopment potential.

In the year ending June 2019, the company successfully completed nearly 1,000 new home sales from the North West and South West offices - a record year.
