Advantage Insurance raised over £3,000 at their annual charity golf day
Last month, the team at Advantage Insurance’s Warrington head office took over the golf course at the Marriott Hotel in Worsley, Greater Manchester, to raise money for additional medical support for Lee Kavanagh, who suffered a cerebral haemorrhage at age 49.
Lee, who has a wife and two children, was in a coma for several months and is receiving physiotherapy twice a week. However, with more funding for more regular physio sessions, it’s believed that Lee will make a swifter recovery.
David Sumner, Director of Sales at Advantage, said: “We normally support local charities like Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. But this year we wanted to raise as much as possible to help Lee on his way to recovery.”
Over £3,000 was raised at Advantage’s annual charity golf day, all of which will go directly to funding Lee’s physio to aid his recovery.
On 5th September, the Advantage team were joined on the golf course by former professional footballers David Dunn (who spent the majority of his career playing for Blackburn Rovers) and Garry Flitcroft (who played for Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City). Not to mention guests from a range of property-related fields (including solicitors, architects and developers).
David Sumner thanked the Advantage team for getting behind such an important cause and thanked all of their guests for digging deep to help to make a big difference to Lee Kavanagh’s quality of life.
Over the past year, Advantage, which specialises in providing structural warranties to individual home builders, developers and housing associations, has had a period of expansion, taking on new members of staff at their Warrington HQ and also at their offices in Birmingham and Horsham. However, this busy period hasn’t dampened their desire to give back to the community by supporting local charities.
Over the last 12-months, they’ve raised funds for Alder Hey and The Whitechapel Centre (the leading homelessness and housing charity for the Liverpool region) and they have more fundraising activities lined up this autumn (including a series of charity football matches to raise funds for WAW Animal Welfare).
They’ve also given staff the opportunity to name local charities that are particularly close to their hearts which they’d like to support over the coming months, so they won’t have to wait for their next annual golf day for their chance to make a difference.
