Success at the double for Housing Plus Group

Housing Plus Group has been recognised at two prestigious awards showcasing the very best work in housing associations across the country.

At the Women in Housing Awards, held at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, Property Plus was presented with the Development and Maintenance Award for a project to reduce the gender imbalance in its workforce.

Property Plus introduced an ambitious programme of change to recruit and develop a workforce reflecting its customer base.

Individual development plans have supported better representation of women in supervisory and management positions and family-friendly working policies ensure parents can have great career prospects.

Senior operations manager Amy Griffith has experienced the enhanced development opportunities in Property Plus. She now encourages other women to think about working in the sector.

“Young women aren’t going to embark on careers in housing, development and maintenance if they don’t know that those jobs exist,” she says. “It’s about helping young women see that fun, exciting and rewarding careers are right here in housing.”

On the same night, the 24 Housing Awards were presented at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

Housing Plus Group was among the finalists for the Best Apprenticeship award and was highly commended in the Communications Team of the Year category, where its team was described as the driving force in modernising ways of working to improve services for customers.

The Group won praise for introducing a digital annual report and creating new channels of communication for customers including popular e-bulletins and a self-help section on its websites.

“Our ambition is to deliver excellent homes and services in our communities here in Staffordshire and Shropshire,” said chief executive Sarah Boden. “I’m delighted that the dedication, enthusiasm and constant drive to improve that are evident in every part of this Group, have been recognised at these national awards. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
