Leeds City Council gives planning consent to develop logistics units on prime site

Specialist UK warehouse developer and investor PLP has been granted planning permission by Leeds City Council to develop prime logistics units on its 43 acre site at Gateway 45 in Leeds.

Four distribution units with sizes ranging from 59,000 sq ft to 400,000 sq ft will be delivered by PLP on a speculative and pre-let basis. Speculative construction is expected to commence in Q1 2020 with delivery of the first three units by Q1 2021.

PLP Gateway 45 will be the largest distribution scheme in Leeds and is expected to address a long-standing shortage of prime logistics units in the region.

The site offers immediate access to both M1 motorway (via junction 45), and the wider national motorway network. PLP Gateway 45 also benefits from Central Government Enterprise Zone status offering added incentives to occupiers.

Hugh Chesterton, development director at PLP, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning permission for what will be Leeds’ premier logistics park.

“This site is unique in that it will be the only site that can offer large scale logistics buildings on the doorstep of the Leeds conurbation, but also direct access to the key motorway junctions.

“We will be pressing on with our enabling works shortly with vertical build of our first phase of speculative development following in Q1 of next year.”

PLP have instructed CBRE and Gent Visick as leasing agents.
