Sandman Hotel Group has announced its acquisition of Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links in Dublin - the former home of the Jameson family and founders of Jameson Irish Whiskey.

Newcastle hotel group acquires former family home of Jameson Irish Whiskey founders

A Newcastle-headquartered hotel group has acquired a historic Irish property as part of its ongoing expansion.

Sandman Hotel Group, part of Northland Properties UK Limited, has announced the acquisition of Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links in Dublin.

The former home of the Jameson family - the founders of Jameson Irish Whiskey - the hotel is situated in Fingal on ‘The Velvet Strand’ coast and comprises 134 guest rooms, a championship links golf course, restaurants, meeting and banquet space.

The deal marks the hotel group’s 59th acquisition, with the firm’s plans for future expansion including a new city centre hotel in Glasgow, Scotland.
