Department of Infrastructure upgrades Crosby depot with TotalKare wash bay lift
The Department of Infrastructure for the Isle of Man has upgraded its wash bay lifting set up at its depot in Crosby with help from Totalkare, the UK’s number one supplier for heavy duty vehicle lifting solutions.
The Government Department delivers a range of important services, including highways maintenance, waste management, properties and asset management and coastguard search and rescue. In total, the Ellerslie depot offers service, maintenance and repair to over 500 assets, including 120 plated trucks of various configurations.
With a fleet of vehicles to maintain in order to keep these important services in action, the busy workshop used to utilise an old ramp for its vehicle wash bay until it was recently deemed unsafe.
TotalKare was approached to find a new solution and installed a permanent outdoor vehicle wash bay featuring a nine-metre, 33,000kg capacity galvanised four post lift.
With sealed bearings and a fully galvanised finish providing long term protection from water ingress, the four post lift will assist the organisation in cleaning vehicles prior to service, maintenance or repair work and for plating preparation.
The four post lift is available in both indoor and galvanised outdoor options, in a range of lifting capacities from 16,000kg to 33,000kg and with platform lengths ranging from 7-18 metres. Additional options, such as jacking beams and lighting kits, are also available.
Charles Lilley, Workshop Manager for the Ellerslie depot, commented: “Having used TotalKare for the last 20 years, we were confident they would find us an ideal replacement to our old wash bay set up. The galvanised four post provides us with a much safer and more durable solution and we are very pleased with this latest addition to our depot.”
Brian Young, National Accounts Manager for TotalKare, concluded: “I am pleased to have been able to provide a safe and suitable solution for the Department of Infrastructure’s wash bay set up. We have a bigger range of customisable products than ever before at Totalkare, making it possible to find a solution to almost any request.”
TotalKare is the UK’s number one supplier of heavy-duty vehicle lifting/testing solutions and aftersales care, providing four and two post lifts, forklifter ramp systems and a comprehensive suite of ancillary products, including transmission jacks, trailer beams and support stands.
The company also launched its new brake tester range earlier this year, the first time the business has introduced non-lifting products to its portfolio.
