Domino's creates 25 jobs with new site opening in Yorkshire market town

Domino’s has opened a new outlet in Skipton with the backing of a six-figure funding package from HSBC UK.

The pizza takeaway company has opened its new two-floor 1,200 sq ft takeaway store in Skipton’s town centre after buying an existing business - a former delicatessen - and refitting the unit.

The new outlet will create 25 new full and part time jobs and is part of Domino’s strategy to grow its offering to customers in smaller towns across the UK.

Domino’s Yorkshire, the franchisee Group that owns Domino’s Skipton and several other outlets across the region, expects to see its turnover increase by 15 per cent in the next 12 months as a result of the expansion.

James Salt, managing director of Domino’s Yorkshire, said: “With HSBC UK’s support we’ve been able to buy an existing business and refit and modernise the unit.

“Our new store gives customers in Skipton and its surrounding area access to Domino’s famous freshly handcrafted pizzas, [and] it has also created a host of new local jobs.”

Domino’s Yorkshire is a franchisee with eight outlets across the West Yorkshire region - three in Bradford, two in Leeds, two in Wakefield and one in Skipton. In 2018, it saw an annual turnover of £10m.

The deal is part of HSBC UK’s £1.05bn lending fund to support SMEs in Yorkshire.
