Shulmans’ Tim Halstead named Managing Partner of the Year at Yorkshire Legal Awards
Tim Halstead, managing partner at Leeds-based UK top 200 corporate law firm, Shulmans LLP, has been named as Managing Partner of the Year at the Yorkshire Legal Awards (YLA), from a field of seven other nominees from across the region.
The prestigious awards ceremony, now in its 20th year, brings together the region’s legal community to celebrate its achievements and the best legal talent across all sectors and specialisms.
Halstead is celebrating his 25th year as managing partner of Shulmans, which is a remarkable milestone to reach in the legal profession. He was recognised for leading the firm during an impressive decade of growth, with turnover increasing by an average of 10% in each of the last nine years and profits rising by 50% since 2017. He was also celebrated for developing and nurturing an employee culture which promotes from within, through the Forward with Shulmans programme, and for being an approachable and visible managing partner. Halstead sits amongst colleagues within Shulmans’ open plan office at Wellington Place and interacts with employees on a daily basis. He is also committed to charitable causes alongside his legal duties and has been a trustee of Yorkshire children’s charity Martin House Hospice for over six years, serving as chair since 2017. Halstead previously won the YLA Managing Partner of the Year award in 2014 and has been named a finalist in the Professional Services Leader category of the Northern Leadership Awards 2019.
On receiving the award, Halstead said: “I am thrilled to have received the accolade of Managing Partner of the Year. It is a privilege to lead such a dedicated and hardworking team of talented people, and it is testament to my colleagues that we are now listed as a UK top 200 law firm. We have always valued our independence and we have successfully developed a culture which nurtures from within and champions the delivery of outstanding results for clients.”
