Cumbrian Entrepreneur receives #WOW award from Jacqueline Gold CBE
This October, Rachel Gaw, from Workington, Cumbria, was recognised by British businesswoman, Jacqueline Gold CBE, for her success as a female entrepreneur, and awarded with a prestigious #WOW badge for her apparel, art and accessories business, Go Your Own Way.
Rachel was one of three winners selected by Jacqueline after she entered ‘Women on Wednesday’ – a competition launched by Jacqueline in 2011 to celebrate the growing number of UK female entrepreneurs and businesswomen.
Women on Wednesday (#WOW) takes place every week and is run through Jacqueline’s Twitter page. When selecting the winners, Jacqueline looks for businesses that are interesting, that have strong brand values and that she thinks have potential to grow and succeed in their industry. She looks for quality products and services, well designed websites, and entrepreneurs who demonstrate good business acumen and who have spotted a gap in the market that meets consumers’ needs.
Founded in 2018 in the Lake District, Go Your Own Way takes inspiration from its wild heritage, offering unique clothes, accessories and art for all the family. Priding itself on its sustainable roots, Go Your Own Way products are designed and handmade or personalised by Rachel. Inspired by the forests and mountains of the Lake District, as well as its founder’s love of outdoor sports, all items are designed with adventurers in mind.
Jacqueline Gold says: “Go Your Own Way Apparel is an exceptional business that creates a variety of art, apparel, jewellery and accessories that are inspired by the business’s love for the outdoors. The fact that this business uses high quality materials and also offers personalisation shows their attention to detail and dedication to their customers’ needs. I love the unique designs that highlight their passion for the outdoors and adventure. I wish them every success in the future.
“For me, #WOW is all about inspiring and celebrating female entrepreneurs. My vision is for women in the UK to come together, celebrate their strengths, skills and fantastic businesses, and do all that they can to inspire other women to realise their potential.
“The WOW community is a fantastic network which offers female entrepreneurs the opportunity to share advice, support each other, trade and most importantly celebrate their successes!”
Rachel Gaw, founder of Go Your Own Way, said: “I am delighted to have been awarded a WOW badge from Jacqueline. It’s a fantastic accolade, and a real testament to how much love and passion has gone in to my business. We’ll always stay true to our outdoor roots and can’t wait to share our story and products with more adventure lovers.”
