Sterling Pharma Solutions announced as national winner in European Business Awards 2019

Cramlington-based pharmaceutical manufacturing firm, Sterling Pharma Solutions, has been named one of the UK’s national winners in the European Business Awards 2019.

The European Business Awards is one of the world’s largest business competitions. This year, the firm is a national winner in the Workplace and People Development Award category and will go on to represent the United Kingdom in the final stage of the competition at the award ceremony later this year.

The accolade makes Sterling one of 37 national winners selected from the 250 companies shortlisted in the Ones to Watch list, which focuses on business excellence in the UK.

Kevin Cook, CEO of Sterling, said: “Being selected as the national winner in the Workplace and People Development Award in the European Business Awards is a fantastic accolade. We have invested significantly in our Apprentice Initiative to encourage young people in the North East of England to consider careers in STEM. This year we have taken on 11 apprentices and we currently employ 35 apprentices on-site. It’s fantastic for that hard work to be recognised on a national level.

“We are looking forward to the next stage of the awards, where Sterling will go up against other national winners in the category.”

The company will next head to Warsaw, Poland to complete a final round of judging on December 3-4 and attend the gala ceremony where the overall category winners for the 2019 European Business Awards will be announced. In addition, the team will also attend a summit to engage with other companies and discuss various business issues.

Sterling Pharma Solutions is the UK’s largest provider of drug substance development and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical industry.
