Yorkshire lawyers in the fast lane with key hire
A Yorkshire law firm has marked the first stage of its expansion with a key appointment.
Litigation specialists Luscombe Gray has been bolstered by the addition of solicitor Katherine Clark, a specialist in complex and high asset recovery and consumer credit matters.
She brings to the Harrogate-based team more than a decade of legal expertise, gained at both a top 50 national law firm and a regional Yorkshire practice.
This has led to her being named among the 50 most influential figures in the world of motor finance in two consecutive years by Motor Finance magazine.
Managing director Chris Luscombe said: “We are thrilled to expand the team with a finance and commercial litigator of Katherine’s calibre and proven track record.
“Her specialist skills will both strengthen and broaden our offering of specialist litigation services to our growing client portfolio.”
Katherine has dealt with a range of disputes on behalf of PLCs, small and medium-sized owner-managed businesses and local authorities.
She has extensive experience in running High Court and County Court claims from pre-issue to trial and appeal, and deals with enforcement of judgments.
She has built up an in-depth knowledge of consumer credit legislation - a niche area of law regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
A case highlight for her in this field was acting for the successful appellant in the Court of Appeal case of BMW Financial Services (GB) Limited v Hart (2012) which provided clarification on limitation in consumer credit cases.
She has also had articles published on changes to legislation, and widely commented on decisions by regulatory bodies, procedural issues and tactics in litigation.
She said: “Luscombe Gray may be a new name in the legal sector but it draws upon a long history, particularly in property, financial and commercial litigation.
“I’m delighted to be part of the team at a time it is witnessing increased demand for its expertise.”
A keen runner - having completed a marathon and a number of half marathons - Katherine lives with her partner in Leeds.
