Shakespeare Martineau sparks new relationship with Last Mile Infrastructure Group
Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has been appointed as legal adviser to Glasgow-based utility expert, Last Mile Infrastructure Group.
Following a competitive pitch process, the firm, led by Peter Dilks, was recognised for its combined knowledge of the real estate and energy sectors, specialist expertise and national reach.
Last Mile Infrastructure Group operates nationally to design, build, own and operate multi-utility networks alongside housebuilders, construction firms and independent consultancy companies on new residential and commercial developments.
In addition to Shakespeare Martineau’s proven real estate energy credentials, its drive to put its clients’ needs first underpins every activity. Last Mile’s requirement for instant access to legal materials has led to the firm creating a bespoke online platform. As well as streamlining the communications process, the system also ensures real-time information can be shared easily between both parties.
Shakespeare Martineau will be supporting on a wide variety of legal activities including leases and transfers of substations and gas governors, as well as easements for cabling. Shakespeare Martineau has a strong legal presence in the energy market and already advises Last Mile subsidiary Energetics on other commercial matters.
Last Mile Infrastructure Group has recently completed the acquisition of UK Power Solutions, another major player in the field of multi-utility installations. This acquisition will expand Last Mile Infrastructure Group’s national reach and adds another independent connections provider (ICP) to its portfolio, building on the success of its existing ICP subsidiary, Energetics.
