North East housing association set to deliver 600 new homes over next decade
The Castles & Coasts Housing Association’s (CCHA) development team is to deliver hundreds of new homes in the region.
The team, which owns properties across Sunderland and Northumberland, is said to be making progress on its target of building 600 new homes over the next five years.
Led by head of development, David Brown, the expanded five-strong team was formed over the past four months, and is delivering new housing developments for the agency, which has offices in Newcastle and Carlisle.
David said: “It’s an exciting time for CCHA, with a raft of projects underway and a number in the pipeline. To make sure we deliver the best possible schemes for our residents, it is vital that we bring together a collective of talented people, enabling us to rise to the challenge of our new development ambitions.
“These appointments are a true demonstration of CCHA’s commitment to delivering on its ambitious new strategy, which will see us create 600 new homes across the North East and Cumbria in the coming years.”
Hannah, a former account manager, said: “It’s a really exciting time to be joining CCHA and the Development Team in particular.
“We all come from different backgrounds and have skills and experience that complement each other, which I think will be reflected in the schemes we provide.”
The team is responsible for buying land, liaising with contractors and builders on a daily basis to oversee construction work progress and ensuring CCHA standards are maintained.
Two projects nearing completion are the Crookfield development at Staveley, and Orchard Place in Appleby.
Crookfield, in the Lake District National Park, consists of 13 properties. It is on track for completion by the end of this month.
This site offers opportunities to rent to buy, rent, shared ownership and outright sale, with all homes two or three bedrooms.
Orchard Place delivers six two-bed apartments, and is nearing completion. These are the final six properties out of a total of 12 that CCHA has developed with partner Story Homes.
