Move will support growth at leading residual stock wholesaler Morris & Son
Leading discount food & drink wholesaler Morris & Son has moved to new, purpose-built premises in Barnsley, to support the company’s continued growth.
Residual & clearance stock specialist Morris & Son will retain a small presence in Leeds with the production operation remaining; however, the majority of its 50 employees will operate from the 52,000 sq ft site.
Additional positions will be created in sales, purchasing and business development.
Employees have now transferred to the new premises at Silkstone Court, Dodworth Business Park, which will offer increased storage capacity in addition to improved logistic facilities.
MD Andy Needham said the move underlined the company’s ambitions and would support plans for further growth.
He said: “The location, close to Junction 37 of the M1, is ideal for us as it will enable us to make significant efficiencies in our distribution as well as giving us extra space in the warehouse itself, thanks to the 11-metre eaves height. While we will retain a small presence in Leeds, bringing the business to this purpose-built site gives us the opportunity to substantially develop the range of services we can offer and products we sell.
“I am delighted that the majority of our current staff have embraced the move and will be relocating with us. Our plans include further improving our systems and additional recruitment in due course.”
Morris & Son is a specialist residual stock management business, clearing problem products for major manufacturers and distributers throughout the UK and supplying them on into the “value sector”.
