Adlington Retirement Living wins silver WhatHouse? Award for Best Retirement Development
Situated on the banks of the Macclesfield Canal, a development of stylish apartments offering an inspired new way to retire has won a building industry ‘Oscar’. The Bridges, on Buxton Road in Macclesfield, offers homeowners stunning canal views along with a magnificent outlook of the surrounding countryside, and is not far from the local shops and the bustling town centre. The development won the Silver Award for Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards 2019, the UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event and is a prime example of a high-end, purpose-built retirement community created by Cheshire-based, Adlington Retirement Living. The judges praised Adlington’s approach to independent living, where homeowners don’t have to compromise on their lifestyle, their social life or their independence. The Bridges offers the best of both worlds. Homeowners can enjoy the privacy of their own peaceful and spacious apartment, spend time in the leafy gardens (which are maintained by an expert team of gardeners), relax in the hairdressing salon, therapy suite or Homeowners’ lounge and then invite their friends over to enjoy the table service restaurant, without having to think about cooking or washing up. Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “The WhatHouse? Awards is the largest national event that celebrates the highest standards and the best new homes in the country. We’re really pleased that the judges recognised both our spacious, superbly appointed apartments and our fresh approach to independent living. “We want our Homeowners to enjoy every moment of their retirement. We constantly refine, adapt and invest in our buildings and interior design to deliver high quality homes and create welcoming retirement communities. “Moving into an Adlington Retirement Living apartment is far more than just moving into a new home. It’s a chance to become part of a thriving community of like-minded people, with a shared outlook. Our communities provide a safe, secure and happy environment with a circle of friends, a family of like-minded people and a sense of belonging.” The judges also recognised the importance of having peace of mind when downsizing in later life, commending the optional, additional care offered at The Bridges and the 24hour emergency call system that’s linked to a dedicated on-site support team, 365 days a year. The WhatHouse? Awards, attended by over 1,500 guests, were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Astronaut Tim Peake presented the awards and comedian and television presenter, Dara O’Briain was the celebrity host.
