£7m North Yorkshire retail development set to create 70 jobs
Plans for a new roadside retail development in North Yorkshire have been unveiled.
BP Oil UK Limited has appointed national planning and development consultancy Lichfields to deliver planning consent on the £7m proposals for a new refuelling station and retail outlets just outside of Thirsk.
Centred around a new petrol station, the new development will feature an M&S Simply Food store, a McDonald’s and a Costa.
The BP petrol filling station will have up to four electric vehicle charging points as well as a separate HGV fuelling facility.
If approved, the plans could create around 70 new full-time jobs at the site - currently an unused parcel of land next to the A170/A19/A168 roundabout.
Robert Dibden, associate director at Lichfields in Newcastle, commented: “Neither McDonald’s nor Costa are currently represented in the town.
“The new drive-thru restaurant and drive-thru coffee shop would offer new facilities and well-known brands for locals and passers-by.”
