£1.5m combined turnover in merger for two North East workwear suppliers

Washington screen print and embroiderer Woven Inc has invested in a Ponteland workwear supplier creating a combined turnover of £1.5m.

The merged business - with NewWorkWear.com - will retain both sites with a joint workforce of 20 staff.

Ian & Sarah Taylor have owned and operated Woven Inc for eight years, while NewWorkWear.com was founded by Darren Bosi in 2018.

Having previously worked together in the workwear industry, both companies felt the time was right to better both companies to meet supposed client demand.

Both companies use ‘advanced’ printing and embroidery techniques to offer cost-effective branded clothing.

NewWorkWear.com will be known as the sister company of Woven Inc with both companies retaining their names, with Ian and Sarah Taylor now acquiring 40 per cent of NewWorkWear.com.

Ian said: “Both companies offer complementary service lines and expertise making this a logical and attractive partnership. Joining forces allows us to combine areas of strength to provide a broader range of services to customers.”

The merged company has its sight set on a five-year growth plan which will see the employment of five further staff and further investment of machinery, with a projected turnover of £2m.

Darren Bosi added: “The new business is driven by mutual desire of both firms to be a market leader by reputation, underpinned by our shared values and clear focus on customer quality and service.

“The merger will allow us to streamline operations, sending a clearer message to customers that we have greater buying power to enable us to offer them even further competitive prices.”

Clients include 247 Contracting, Tolent Construction, Richard Hardie, ICC Cricket, Karbon Homes and Newcastle City Council.
