Acquisition of Gus Robinson kick starts Thirteen's ambitious house building programme
Twelve months since its acquisition by Thirteen work is underway by Gus Robinson Developments Limited on a new housing development of 89 affordable two and three bedroomed bungalows at Roworth Road in Middlesbrough. Over the next five years, Thirteen has pledged to invest more than £1billion into improving homes for existing customers, building new homes, making improvements to neighbourhoods and delivering support services it offers to customers. This investment was strengthened by the acquisition of Gus Robinson Developments giving the opportunity for growth and enabling Thirteen to fulfil its enhanced development programme to deliver 6,648 high quality homes over the next 10 years. The size of the investment means Thirteen will continue to work with other developers to enable it to deliver the ambitious programme and Gus Robinson will work with existing and new clients including housing associations and local authorities. Chris Smith, executive director of service development and delivery at Thirteen, said: “Working with Gus Robinson over the past year has been a fantastic opportunity for us. “We added to the ability of Thirteen by bringing on board an established and recognised local affordable housing contractor with ambitions to deliver not just for Thirteen, but for other organisations in the North East to provide much-needed homes. “Earlier this year we were also delighted to be named as a Wave Partner by Homes England, only one of two housing associations based in the North East and by bringing on board Gus Robinson Developments, it’s helping us to further extend our range of affordable homes that are in the pipeline across the Tees Valley and beyond.
“We’re proud that this partnership will help us play a significant role in the development of the North’s housing requirements.”
Steve Bell, Managing Director of Gus Robinson Developments added: ’‘The opportunity to play a significant role in the construction of Thirteen’s development programme is one which the whole team at Gus Robinson are very excited about. In addition to commencing works at Roworth Road, we have been working with Thirteen’s development team to bring forward proposals for many more new homes that are in the pipeline.
“Being part of Thirteen has added greater strength and stability to the Gus Robinson name and brand and helped create opportunities to add value to both Thirteen and our other client partners across the North East.”
