Independent recycling firm creates jobs with opening of fourth site
A North East-based independent recycling company has acquired its fourth site as part of its ongoing expansion.
J&B Recycling has opened its new recycling centre at Monument Park on Pattinson Industrial Estate in Washington.
The facility, which services Sunderland City Council’s kerbside recycling contract among others, has enabled the firm to create two new jobs.
Led by CEO Vikki Jackson-Smith, the firm was formerly a coal processing company run by Vikki’s father Alan Jackson, before moving into recycling under Vicki’s leadership, specialising in processing commingled recyclables producing commodities for reprocessing.
Mark Penny, commercial manager at J&B Recycling, commented: “The site holds the potential to act as a delivery point for other recycling contracts.
“It can open up the expansion of recycling collections from other kerbside contracts and nearby businesses in Tyne and Wear. Making them more efficient, saving on fuel and miles per tonne for the collection of recyclables.”
