£100m Quayside development set to deliver hundreds of job opportunities
Newcastle is set to become home to hundreds of new training and employment opportunities through a new partnership from the Giants On The Quayside developer.
World Wheel Company Newcastle has partnered with Walker-based Building Futures East to create the Giants on the Tyne Academy, aiming to provide jobs and training opportunities to people in the East End areas of Byker and Walker.
The academy, which will offer a range of vocational courses, aims to provide training for over 800 jobs that the Giants on the Quayside development is set to create, with a further education college currently being selected to deliver the training requirements.
Anthony Woods-Waters, chief executive of Building Futures East, commented: “We are very pleased and extremely proud to have been chosen by the World Wheel Company Newcastle to create the link between this iconic landmark development and the communities of the city’s East End.
“It is a clear indication of the commitment of World Wheel Company Newcastle’s directors. They are determined to ensure that the tremendous economic benefits created by this development also embrace the local communities in which it is to be located. It is an integral part of their vision.
World Wheel Company Newcastle chief executive, Phil Lynagh, added: “From the outset, our ambition for Giants on the Quayside has been to deliver new educational and employment opportunities for local people.
“Our partnership with Building Futures East will create hundreds of them, many of which we would hope to fulfil at our development.”
