Housebuilder helps school pupils stay safe with emergency repairs following storm

The school grounds of March CE Primary School in Chichester are safe again for pupils, after local development sub-contractor Borderland Fencing stepped in and built a new fence on site following a storm.

Housebuilders Barratt Homes noticed that the Primary school site next to their Madgwick Park build in Chichester had suffered in the storm knocking down a fence in the school playground. The company acted swiftly sending in regional sub-contractor Borderland Fencing over a weekend to repair the damage and thereby helping hundreds of pupils stay safe on the grounds when returning to school.

March CE Primary school headteacher Nicky Metcalfe said: “With competing demands on school budgets and resources, having help and support for issues like this is a real life-saver. It was such a lovely surprise for us to come in on the Monday morning and see that Barratt Homes had gone out of their way to help us, making our site secure for our pupils. We can’t thank them enough.”

It is not the first time Barratt Homes has helped March CE Primary School. The company regularly contributes to the local community and has helped the local school before with hi vis vests for the children, as well as financial donations towards other new facilities. Borderland Fencing has also generously offered to support the school in putting up new sheds on site to store equipment for the children.

Anthony Dimmick, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes’ community liaison officer said: “It is our pleasure to be able to help March CE Primary School when they suffered damage to their grounds in the storm last week. We know their budgets are tight and were delighted to use our contacts ensuring the children could stay safe on the grounds. A huge thank you to our subcontractors at Borderland Fencing for making this happen so quickly.”
