Chemical firms target market expansion with distribution deal

A leading UK chemical company has solidified its strategy to increase its product portfolio with a distribution agreement with a Netherlands-based manufacturer to be the sole distributor of its process antifoam products in the UK.

Airedale Chemical signed the deal with BRB International in a move which will see a projected 125% increase in sales of the products in 2020 and grow Airedale Chemical’s presence in its target markets.

The Akasil range, BRB International’s antifoam products, are aimed at water treatment and processes within the cleaning, food manufacture and agrochemical industries.

Daniel Marr, commercial director of Airedale Chemical, explains: “The agreement with BRB International is crucial to our strategy for new product growth and forms part of our objective to introduce at least one new product category each year through principal partnerships or organic new product development.

“We’ve identified huge potential for growth in the antifoam market and this deal will offer us access to new customers and also use our existing presence amongst potential customers to introduce the BRB International brand.”

Airedale Chemical will be the only UK distributor of BRB International’s technical and food grade antifoams. The technical graded range has a broad range of uses and wide market potential among industrial businesses searching for heavy duty cleaning solutions.

The food grade range has more niche applications in food environment which is subject to strict regulations where chemicals come into contact with food during the manufacture and cleaning process.

Chris adds: “Our existing and new customers will feel added value from the extended range of quality products and being able to access technical support direct from the manufacturer. We’re now also able to provide enhanced high-technology antifoam matching services where existing products can be sampled and we can recommend the best products available.”

Foam control agents are are widely used to prevent or dissipate foams occurring without any effect on the process or efficacy of the final product.

Marc Ballmann, account manager for BRB International, says: “This partnership with Airedale Chemical will provide us with an even greater UK presence. It has a 20-strong fleet of fully-owned, specially designed vehicles which will provide a truly reliable delivery service and confidence of supply.

“We will also be utilising the established sales team which will support our growth in the UK and has a proven record of longevity in the market.”

Airedale Chemical has been based in Cross Hills since 1994 and provides chemicals and contract manufacturing to markets including manufacturing, dairy, recycling and waste management.
