Logistics developer on track with Sheffield and Leeds schemes
UK logistics developer and investor PLP has appointed Sheffield contractor J F Finnegan to construct a 343,000 sq ft logistics/distribution facility in Smithywood.
Construction has commenced with completion scheduled for August 2020.
PLP Smithywood is located at Smithywood Business Park in Sheffield adjacent to Junction 35 of the M1.
The building has been designed to enable carbon zero occupation by incorporating sustainable technologies such as roof-mounted solar panels and multiple electric vehicle charging points.
Roof and underground infrastructure upgrades enable scale up of solar panel and electric charging provision post occupation across the entire roof and car park.
J F Finnegan’s head of pre-construction, Dawa Singh, said: “We take great pride in delivering our work with dedication and integrity, embracing sustainable initiatives, technologies and design principles to deliver warehousing solutions for occupiers seeking low carbon, low cost warehousing solutions.
“We are delighted to have secured a second project for PLP and look forward to working closely with PLP once again.”
In other news, PLP has also appointed Commercial Property Partners (CPP) as leasing agents for another scheme.
The Aire Valley Land LLP, the joint venture between Harworth Group plc and Evans Property Group, has completed the sale of 43 acres of commercial development land at its Gateway 45 Leeds site to PLP.
The site has been acquired by PLP’s flagship investment vehicle, the PLP UK Logistics Venture (UKLV), which is owned by majority investor Ivanhoé Cambridge alongside PLP.
This is the final land sale to complete at Gateway 45 Leeds this year.
