Trainline plc on track to continue rapid revenue boost with 2020 FY results

Independent rail and coach travel platform Trainline plc has announced an update on its trading performance for the first nine months of the financial year 2020.

Spanning the months from March 1 to November 30, 2019, the group’s UK consumer revenue has gone up by 31 per cent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, group net ticket sales have increased 18 per cent year-on-year to £2.9bn, and UK consumer net ticket sales have increased 24 per cent - said to reflect a ‘strong’ mobile demand for the adoption and usage of eTickets.

Group revenue has increased to £198m, going up 26 per cent year-on-year, while international revenue has increased by a major 90 per cent. This is said to be due to ‘rapid growth’ in net ticket sales and the launch of new revenue services overseas.

Clare Gilmartin, CEO of Trainline, said: “We continued to deliver strong growth in the third quarter of the financial year while we focus on our mission to make rail and coach travel easier for customers worldwide, encouraging a much greener way to travel.

“We are on track to deliver our plans for the full year and will continue to invest both in the UK and internationally to deliver the significant growth opportunities for Trainline in the year ahead.”
