£12million luxury hotel opens its doors in iconic seaside resort
A new luxury 120-bed hotel has begun welcoming guests on the world-famous Blackpool coast, forming part of a £multi-million reinvestment programme into the northern seaside town.
The Boulevard Hotel was brought to life by a project team comprising Preston-headquartered building control specialists, Ball & Berry and Bolton-based contractor, Truman Design and Build.
Commissioned by owners, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the five-storey Boulevard Hotel features a 90-seat restaurant – The Beachside – and state-of-the-art conferencing and event facilities for up to 200 delegates.
Rooms at the Boulevard Hotel offer a variety of views including Blackpool promenade and the stunning coastline or into the amusement park itself.
The move to develop the Boulevard Hotel came after the success of the adjacent award-winning Big Blue Hotel, the first hotel venture from Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which sits to the south of the amusement park and opened its doors in 2003. Both properties form part of the Blackpool Pleasure Beach portfolio, which has been operated by the Thompson family since the amusement park’s inception in 1896.
The new £12million hotel has created 30 new permanent jobs in the resort, together with 40 seasonal vacancies.
Amanda Thompson OBE, managing director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, said: “We’re delighted to be able to build on the success of the Big Blue Hotel by offering both leisure and business visitors another hotel which exceeds all expectations.
“This is a continuation of Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s ongoing investment and a pivotal moment for the town. We’re proud to be at the very heart of a transformation that will see Blackpool become one of the UK’s most exciting resorts.”
Dave Gough, associate director at Ball & Berry, said: “Millions of people visit Blackpool each year and it was a pleasure to be involved in bringing a new stylish hotel to the town.
“We worked together with the client and contractor to successfully deliver a phased scheme that enabled the hotel to partially open ahead of its completion and capitalise on key trading months, whilst also overcoming challenging site restrictions posed by the adjoining buildings.
“Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s vision was to deliver luxury accommodation that sets the standard for future hospitality developments across the seaside resort, and that’s exactly what was achieved.”
