Leeds mum committed to spreading festive joy in local hospital wins £1,000 gift card giveaway from Park Christmas Savings
A mum from Leeds who helps spread festive joy by sending presents to her local hospital every Christmas has been rewarded with £1,000 worth of Love2shop gift cards just in time for the holidays.
Cheryl Sibson-Young, who lives in Farsley with her partner and two children, started the tradition of gift-giving to neighbours and hospital patients after her son Alfie was diagnosed with a kidney disease during Christmas in 2017.
She won the £1,000 prize after sharing her story about her annual festive gift-giving with Park Christmas Savings and she was shocked to discover she’d won the competition after a surprise visit from TV personality Jeff Brazier, who backed the campaign.
The Christmas-loving mum, a customer of Park Christmas Savings for more than 10 years, says she’ll now use her winnings to give even more gifts to patients at the hospital.
Cheryl said: “Winning the Love2shop gift cards means so much to me and my family, as it will help us gift more presents for the hospital and we’ll also be able to use some for Alfie’s birthday as he turns nine in January.
“In 2017, he was diagnosed with a kidney disease, so for the last two years he’s been in and out of hospital, mainly over Christmas because his kidney disease flares up when he catches a cough or a cold, which are common at this time of year.
“We wanted to say thanks for the amazing care he receives, so last year we went with him and his sister, dressed as Santa and an elf, to deliver cake and sweets for the children staying there.
“I’ve been part of the Park Christmas Savings community for more than 10 years, and it’s always been a simple and easy way to save for our Christmas gifts without any stress. This year, thanks to them, I’ll have even more Love2shop gift cards to pass onto Santa in return for lots of great gifts come the big day!”
Jacqui Rigby, CMO of Appreciate Group, which operates the Park Christmas Savings brand, added: “Every year, we help hundreds of thousands of families pre-pay for Christmas, and this year we wanted to give an extra boost to one customer by hearing about their traditions that make the festive holidays so special.
“Cheryl’s amazing commitment to making Christmas special for those in her community makes her a worthy winner, as we’re always striving to spread joy to make the festive period a special time for all of our customers.”
Over recent weeks and in the run-up to Christmas, Park Christmas Savings will have despatched almost a quarter of a million packages, as well as around 80,000 hampers and tens of thousands of merchandise orders for customers in time for Christmas 2019.
