North East tech scaleup set to create over 20 new jobs in growth drive
A Newcastle-based technology company has announced a ‘major’ recruitment drive and planned expansion in 2020 as part of its ongoing growth.
Hive (HR) is set to recruit over 20 new members of staff in the first half of the year, almost doubling its workforce, as well as expanding its existing city centre office.
Established in 2016, Hive specialises in software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology for the HR function of organisations.
The firm’s self-developed employee survey platform is already used by companies across the country, including River Island, Travelodge, Sheffield Hallam University, BrewDog, Yotel and Northumbria Police.
As well as planning to increase headcount from 39 to 60 by the end of the summer, the firm plans to extend its 4,378 sq ft office in Newcastle’s Broadacre House.
Hive’s founder and CEO John Ryder explained: “We have ambitious but realistic growth targets as we aim to change the world of work for the better, and we need the best people on board to help make that happen.
“We’ve got very clear plans on where we need to take the product and new heads will help us to deliver on those plans in 2020 and beyond.”
The company also hopes that the expansion will strengthen its commitment to establishing the North East as a serious player in the tech industry. John added: “It also goes without saying that we want to play our part in positioning the North East as a thriving technology hub.
“We’re doing everything we can as a growing business to engage our incredible team, encourage skilled people to stay in the North East, and attract new talent into the region.”
