Durham metalwork firm secures six-figure contract at redevelopment of historic site

A local metalwork and fabrication company has secured a six-figure contract to work on the redevelopment of a historic County Durham site.

Family-run firm Steelcraft will deliver a range of metalwork for Miller Homes’ new housing estate at the historic Lambton Park site in Chester-le-Street.

The £100k two-year contract will see the firm design and produce balconies, gates and handrails for the residential site.

Matthew Rodgers, Steelcraft’s managing director, commented: “We’re thrilled to have won this contract and to continue working with Miller Homes. The work represents around a 5 percent increase in our orders and will also contribute to safeguarding the jobs of our 30-strong workforce.”

“Lambton Park’s redevelopment will uncover this hidden gem, which closed to the public nearly 40 years ago, and preserve its stunning historic features and heritage.
