Sheffield modernises parking terminal estate with Flowbird

Sheffield City Council has completed a project to modernise and rationalise its parking estate with the installation of new contactless parking terminals from Flowbird.

A total of 193 solar powered Flowbird Strada Transfer machines have been installed in the city centre and in resident permit parking zones as part of a council programme to modernise parking technology across the area.

The renewal and replacement programme means that the council now operates one model of parking terminal from Flowbird – with all now offering the contactless payment options increasingly in demand among residents and visitors. This rationalisation will help streamline maintenance operations across the parking estate.

All the council’s terminals are linked to Flowbird’s Smartfolio centralised management system, enabling the local authority to monitor its entire terminal estate remotely and access detailed parking and payment transaction data. The maintenance team now uses tablet devices to proactively monitor terminals to ensure optimal uptime, providing residents and visitors with the best possible service.

Kenny Scouller, Senior Sales Manager at Flowbird, commented: “These installations are clear evidence of Flowbird’s continued growth in the northern powerhouse and our commitment to providing world class parking solutions that benefit those living and working in the north of England.

“This investment by Sheffield will not only deliver operational benefits to the city council, it will also provide the convenience of contactless payment options to citizens across the area. We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Sheffield.”
